Most people assume picking the right bike is an easy task. Many people just think finding a bike that looks good and is comfortable is all there is to picking the right bike. This is wrong, the fact is there are more things to consider these days than there was a few years ago. Cycling is increasing in popularity in many areas of life, such as sports, hobbies, transport etc. we now have many different bikes to choose from. Today more people are choosing to ride a bicycle as their primary forms of transportation. While many people cycle as a hobby. No matter why you are picking your bicycle, here are some ways to help you along.

One way to choose the bike that fits you is to sit on the bike and see if your feet will rest flat on the floor, in case you need to stop yourself. Some experts, however, say that this is not a good idea. They say that it is better to give yourself a few inches between your feet and the ground to create a more comfortable cycling experience. You will likely find that the seat will rest too near the crossbar, if, when you sit on the seat, your knees are bent with your feet flat on the ground, which is an indication that the seat needs to be raised. If this is happening, when you start to pedal the bike then your knees are going to come up too high.

Always keep in mind that you want to test the bike before you buy it. Don't just jump on and jump off though, take a nice little ride for at least a few minutes. This makes perfect sense because you know you'd never buy a car without test driving it first.

So why wouldn't this apply to buying a bicycle? You really need to be sure to test it if you plan to spend a great site good bit on the bicycle or if you are going to be spending a lot of time riding it. Choose the bicycle that you know will fit you. Physical fit is easy to determine, but you also need to find a bike that “fits” your riding style. You wouldn't want to waste money on a bicycle you don't enjoy riding.

If you are buying a cycling bicycle for your children, you have an entirely different set of criteria to think about. You want to choose a bike that has brakes that are easy to apply (like moving the pedals backward) as well as something that is nice and sturdy. When getting a bike for a kid the way it looks is also incredibly important, children like to look flashy, you will also want to find a well priced bike because your child will quickly outgrow it. There are many different factors to take into account when finding the right bicycle. Are you going to be using your bike every day or will you only be riding every so often? What seat height gives you the most comfortable ride? Are you a person who would rather your feet be flat on the ground when you are sitting or would you rather have a little room between your feet and the ground? All of these factors will come into play as you make your choice.
